This test evaluates if you have enough Vitamin D in your system for optimal health.
Anyone who is concerned that their Vitamin D level may be too low or too high for optimal health. This test is helpful when you have symptoms of vitamin D deficiency, such as bone weakness, softness, or fractures. You can get vitamin D through your skin, from your diet, and from supplements.
People who may not get enough Vitamin D include:
- Breastfed infants
- People with dark skin
- People with certain conditions, such as liver disease, cystic fibrosis and Crohn's disease
- People who are obese or who have had gastric bypass surgery
There is no preparation for this test.
